Yerba Buena is a perennial ground cover for shade, spreading 3 feet wide and up to 2″ tall. This heavenly smelling mint relative is not invasive.  It roots along the stems as it grows, forming a rich, green carpet of scalloped leaves. Tiny white to purple flowers appear Summer thru Fall. Easy, tough and long lived, it makes a healthful and delicious, minty tea. Used medicinally by native Californian people, this is deer resistant and drought tolerant.  Yerba Buena is also a great permaculture plant for your food forest. Just give an annual bit of compost and cut back occasionally to promote bushiness. Drought tolerant, but best with some summer water. Great beginner plant, but we cannot guarantee the success of your plants in your garden.

Grows in USDA zones 7A to 10B
